I would have preferred being advised of this before arriving to collect the car. The staff at the pick-up office of Tempest car hire was friendly and helpfull: Problems while on the road This problem occured: mechanical problems. The people from Tempest car hire did not handle this adequately: Comment: The clutch was in poor repair. Again, I advised the Tempest staff member who was unable and/or unwilling to assist. On arriving at the car after a late evening out I found the battery was dead. I was unable to even open the car doors. I contacted the emergency call centre and was asked to wait for a return call. After having waited approximately 20 minutes I called again and was requested, again, to wait until the operator was able to locate a service person. After having waited alone, in the dark, for more than an hour I finally flagged a passing motorist for assistance. I am still waiting for the return call. I reported this to the staff member at Tempest when returning the car. I was promised he would attempt to credit me with a day's rental to offset any inconvenience. Unsure whether this was done as I received no communication from Tempest. Imagine, female client, between 23H00 and 24H00 at night in a deserted car park, in South Africa - not a comfortable situation.
