Comment: The voucher confirmation did not allow us to travel because it showed a much larger vehicle . A Peugeot 508 -5 passengers -6 luggage-5 doors.It said that pick up was at the airport and there is no office or people from Car Trawler at the airport . It said that Drop was at the Airport and Turisprime said it was at their deposit far from the airport . We had to pay a taxis . Picking up the car How easy was it to find the rental office/service desk from Turisprime: How clear were the directions on the voucher from CarTrawler: We did not get type of car that we booked (or similar) from Turisprime but: Not solved . They did not have MInivan or large cars. Comment: It was not their fault. They arranged a VW Passat with Car Trawler as they showed us, and that was what we got. The Voucher said something different and that is CarTrawler to blaim. CarTrawler was contacted immediately and their mediation is rated: Comment: They insisted that cars where similar and they did not solve the problem . We could only use the car partially as we could not travel with our luggage that did not fit in tha car. We had to hire 2 taxis from the airport to the Hotel and arranged with Hote The staff at the pick-up office of Turisprime was friendly and helpfull: Comment about other issues when picking up the car: There is no Car Trawler at Lisbon airport , so you should not offer the Pick Up at the airpport . We di not find People from CarTrawler at the Vodaphone Shop ( probably attending other passengers ) adn had no phone numbers on our Voucher. We had to hire 2 taxis to the Hotel, tired after a long flight and very upset feeling fooled by CarTrawler. Dropping off the car The staff at the drop off office from Turisprime was friendly and helpfull: General judgement Value for money: Comment: We had to use the best available car from Turisprime that was smaller than what we hired in CarTrawler . The service Turisprime delivered: We would rent a car from Turisprime again. Comment: Turisprime people were very gentle and were sorry for the misleading information in the CarTrawler Web Page and Confirmation Vouchwer The service CarTrawler delivered: We wouldn't use the service of CarTrawler again. Comment: Because of the above mentioned problems we could only use the car half of the time and CarTrawler has not reimbursed the money for the not ued time . We feel we were stolen by Car Trawler , a company that collected more money than Turisprime who gave the Service . This is the true experience and CarTrawler has written many times through Jennifer , but we still don;t get our money back. |

When confronted with that they were very rude and practically told me to go somewhere else; this is clearly not my idea of acceptable customer service. Moreover, they gave me a number of documents to fill up, all of them in Spanish, without even bothering to ask if I had a language preference. Comment: We've had the unpleasant surprise to have to pay for a mandatory cost of a full gas tank because our booking was for more than a week. We argued with the local car rental staff that this hadn't been notified to us by the booking company: neither on the website nor on the booking confirmation with received by e-mail. Comment: As said before, we have browsed several times through the 8 pages voucher we printed, searching for the terms and conditions stating that we had to pay for an extra gasoline from the beginning and it appeared _nowhere_ Before picking up the car there has been contact with CarTrawler (by mail, phone, live chat). How helpfull and friendly they were is rated: Comment: Once at the car rental company, as we argued about the mandatory fee for a full gas tank (because our the duration of the rental was longer than 1 week), we called the helpdesk to sort this problem out. After a few minutes needed to explain our problem (english only - we're portuguese and french speaking people) the lady on the phone said that although we didn't know about these conditions we had to pay anyway for that extra cost. Comment: The employee was very sorry about the situation and offered an addtional driver at no cost. The service CarTrawler delivered: We wouldn't use the service of CarTrawler again. Comment: Never again! Not being clear with terms and conditions leads to customers feeling they were abused and ransomed once in the car rental office. [note from the editor: On the list with available cars, CarTrawler shows clearly what the fuel policy is. This is what they say about that of Europcar in Lisbon: 'Pre-purchase fuel Applicable to rentals of 7 to 365 days Your vehicle will be supplied with a full tank of fuel and can be returned empty. On pickup the rental agent will charge you for a full tank of fuel. The price per litre charged by the rental agent may be higher than the price at the local service station. No refund for unused fuel.' When you booked the car, you had to confirm the rental conditions. The same fuel policy is repeated there. And it is repeated again in your voucher (we checked the voucher CarTrawler issued to you) that you have to pay for a full tank and return it empty, without a refund for unused fuel. On our pages we warn our customers to check the fuel policy: it's in our 'top 5 car rent pitfalls'. This warning is repeated in our tips 'how to rent a car the smart way'. The fuel policy is the first thing you should check, because a bad fuel policy can make a cheap looking car expensive.
