That could be a good thing to point out at pickup: simple directions for nearby gas-stations. Useful to cover all risks though, streets are very narrow in the old towns, roads may be bumpy, traffic hectic: it's very easy to obtain dents or scratches in Sicily. They made me believe that their additional liability waver insurance will insure me from liability payment. When I got a car at Sicily by car they said it does not, and I will have to pay in case of accident, and THEN later figure it out with the insurance company that sold me a Waver thing. That means that they (car trawler) has misleading info on the site, in order to press people to buy insurance and then receive a commission. I did not have any accidents, but this was VERY unpleasant and I had a feeling that I have been er... used. DO NOT BUY A WAVER THROUGH THEM!!! Buy it at the rental company when you come for a car, THEN it will work! When I dropped of a car, I did not have any damages so they released a security deposit of 1200 Euros. HOWEVER, something in the procedure of releasing is technically wrong and I have ended up with 1200 frozen for a month! My bank can not help me, saying that technically they did not correctly released it, and that funds will automatically be released in a month. This is pretty disturbing. The rental company blocks the amount of excess on your credit card during the rental period, so they are sure you will pay them in case of any damage. If you buy your excess insurance via the rental company that company is the contract partner and the insurance pays out to the rental company, so in this case they don't block the amount of excess on your credit card. However: when you buy your insurance at the rental desk you will pay a lot more for the same excess insurance and renting a car becomes a lot more expensive.] |

Could not use it the last days.. The people from Dollar handled this adequately: Comment: They had no possibility to 'solv it' until I turned the car back and by then there were no discussion about whos fault it was. The way Dollar solved this is rated: Comment: There were NO information about how to do when returning the car, where to leave it etc. No queuing system. First queuing in one 'queue' to find out, after quite long time that you should first talk to another person checking the car, than queuing for that (but there were no queue). Than back queuing once more to return the documents and fix the paying. Took very long time! Really annoying when you have a flight to catch. Walking about the airport and car rental companies did not help. Eventually I phoned the car rental company, who gave different instructions from the ones on the confirmation: 'walk up toe Hertz rental desk on the rental car park and wait there for the van transferring you to Firefly' ... Picking up the car How easy was it to find the rental office/service desk from Firefly: How clear were the directions on the voucher from CarTrawler: We did not get type of car that we booked (or similar) from Firefly but: free upgrade. Comment: It's probably the local culture ... It took ages to figure out that no more cars of the requested type were available. We then got a larger car (Ford C-Max) at no extra (rental) cost. In Italy, driving a larger car is not necessarily a plus (narrow streets and shortage of parking space). Overall we were OK with the solution though. Only a pitty it took over half an hour to sort the problem. The car was not clean. Firefly did not solve this problem immediately. Comment: The windshield was covered with a thin film or waze: especially in the evenings with a low standing sun this resulted in very poor visibility. With the winding (mountain) roads of Sardinia, this is even dangourous. We only noticed when far away from the rental desk. The staff at the pick-up office of Firefly was friendly and helpfull: Comment about other issues when picking up the car: Staff was reasonably friendly, however their command of English is very very poor. I speak 3 languages in addition to English with no aveal. Unfortunately, I don't speak Italian ... Eventually, it worked out though. Staff seemed to be nervous, related to lengthy and tough discussions with prior customers ... I can understand it, but I can't help it either ...
